A hood is required for any cooktop regardless of a stove or not. Both produce heat, smoke, and grease. So a vent that goes outside is preferred. A full stove is a one-piece unit. So it is less expensive and only requires 1 electric line. If you go to a cooktop with a wall oven under it. Then you are limited on models, as well as the counter has to have a cutout and a base cabinet to support the wall oven.
