What would be the benefit of choosing a convection oven over an air fryer? I love my air fryer, but would the convection be able to do the same process for more area and more food-the convection oven seems a bit confusing.

They are almost one and the same. Most ranges today have a mode for either. Air fry is almost a fancy name for convection. The main difference is the air fry mode. The fan spins much faster to superheat the cavity. Air fry ranges also use a perforated type tray to insure maximum airflow allowing the food to cook from all sides faster. Both will brown and crisp, but air fry will give you better results. The algorithm in the cooking modes is also slightly different, I have used both modes and air fry seems to crisp the items faster.

Having used both a convection oven and an air fryer, I can attest to their similarities. However, the air fryer’s rapid fan speed and perforated tray design do give it an edge in terms of browning and crisping food more efficiently. It’s like having a mini supercharged oven at your disposal. So, if you’re after that extra crunch in less time, an air fryer might be your go-to. But remember, it’s all about personal preference and what works best for your cooking style.
