If you are talking standalone units vs. one built into a stove? The Ninja countertop AF1000 series seems to be the most widely used and offers some of the best ratings. I even use one myself, and it works excellent.
I have found LG with their linear compressor is very quiet compared to a Whirlpool or a Frigidaire that tends to be on the noisier side. Liebherr and Fisher Paykel do make very quiet units as well, but from more of mainstream brand LG is the quietest
Always been a big believer in the smaller independent appliance store. Not only does it support your town, but they also offer the best in advice price and service. Big box stores pale in comparison to a good local hometown independently owned appliance store. I understand not all areas have them as it’s a dying breed these days. But look on the manufacturer’s website for a smaller brand name when shopping. I always find them to be the best before, during, and after the sale. The big box stores serve a purpose but end of the day you. Just a customer # to them and not as important of a sale then a smaller store.
Best depends on the size and category. But for a quick reference, here is my opinion on the best in these categories these days.
Best overall in a 30″ standard size: Ge Profile, Ge Cafe (price $2k and up)
Best in pro-style category: Bluestar gas ranges offer some of the best quality (price $6k and up)
Best in the ultra-premium: La Cornue for unmatched craftsmanship (price $10k and up)
The Washtower is a one-piece washer dryer with controls located in the middle, and it’s an LG exclusive. Although fairly new, maybe been out a year now, they have been extremely reliable. I sell them all the time and highly recommend them. They make a few models, non-steam, steam option, and the Studio Series that jumps to a 5.0 tub vs. the 4.5. Regardless of the model, you choose all are of equal quality. It is more of a size and feature question. If you download their app, you get access to about 30 more cycles. Thumbs up from me! -Al
Great question and not easy to do. For me, we keep a list of the best services in our area in the northeast, and we give these out to customers when they call. I would call your local independent store and see who they use and recommend. Always try factory service 1st as they are backed by the manufacturer. GE, Bosch, and Whirlpool, to name a few. If you go to their website and enter your zip code, let you know if they offer factory service in your area.
So local dealers, if accommodating, can assist. Then go for a factory tech if available found on the brand’s website,
It really depends on the model and why it’s not working. If it is a gas stove, as it sounds like, is the igniter even activating? Do you hear it clicking? If so, then it could be a gas valve issue. If not, then the igniter needs to be cleaned really well. As debris or grease/carbon buildup will prevent the electrode from making contact to offer a spark to ignite the gas. Many times a burner doesn’t light due to this. I usually clean with some rubbing alcohol then use a small piece of sandpaper to clean off the exposed metal part on the igniter itself.
