To me, a canister always works better, especially for wood floors, as the beater bar is much gentler vs. a full bottom of an upright. Upright people find it more convenient, as it’s easy to rest it when done vs. leaning the hose etc. down a canister. Upright is also easy to carry around and store. I guess call me old school, but I have been through prob 8 vacuums in 25 years, in my house, the past 6 have all been canisters.
