Covid = people staying home more= demand = parts supply shortages = shipping backlogs means welcome to my nightmare. It is now affecting almost every aspect of life. Everyone thought people would stop buying and cut back. Then the opposite happened and destroyed manufacturing from labor to parts they cant produce items fast enough. It will be another year of this, unfortunately.

Tells me may be a different issue, the smell usually is not from the unit itself it is from the waste water filter back into the unit at the end of the cycle. Look at your drain hose and make sure it is in a high loop. It must loop higher than where it connects to the drain like a roller coaster or waste water will siphon back in at the end of the cycle. I would run a cycle of distilled vinegar as well once a month to keep bacteria out too.

The problem is most new appliances are technology loaded so it’s a tough trade-off, I do like simple and a good, knob controlled product is always more reliable but take the GE 5 in 1 oven with a touch screen and wifi packed with tech that is super useful so I would take it on a must need feature first then work from there. I will say the more tech the more to go wrong. In my home, I have a 48 wolf all gas range not even a clock on it but I will probably have it for 20 years.

Generally, the nonstick coating in self-clean ovens and Teflon pans can emit dangerous odors that could kill birds. I would do a burn-off of 2 hours on a new stove as that is generally just oil residue from the factory. I would not use the self-cleaning feature if birds are in the home.

If you have pets that shed  in the house I would clean them monthly, if not 3-4 times a year will help it run cooler and more efficiently.
