Your not that old 🙂 new refrigerators today have a spot usually in the top where a filter sits and by pressing or turning it will pop out.  Once you change the filter hold the filter button for 10 seconds and it will reset the timer. When you take the filter out there is a model # on it and you can call the manufacturer or go to local appliance store to buy a new one.

Mostly the non dispenser ones are the best but the new linear compressor models are reliable.
