I don’t think it adds real value. Other than the fact it can be remotely diagnosed in the event it requires service. It may be nice. Let’s say you’re out of town, and your phone can alert you of a power failure in the unit or a low temp alarm. Things like that may be helpful. Overall you don’t have to use the smart features if you don’t want to connect to wifi.

I find quite the opposite, the ones I have put in people’s homes, and we have done close to 75 pairs this year alone. I had 1 initial failure on the unit not cooling well below any other brand. I think they are a great buy! go for it. Just sold them to a family friend and it’s a friend we like 🙂
