What is a refrigerator filter?

      I just moved.  The previous resident left their side by side refrigerator/freezer behind.  It has ice maker and water in the door (I have not used them yet.  I am afraid).  There is an indicator light that says change filter.  I am over 60 I never head of a refrigerator filter.  Is it something I can change myself?

      Your not that old 🙂 new refrigerators today have a spot usually in the top where a filter sits and by pressing or turning it will pop out.  Once you change the filter hold the filter button for 10 seconds and it will reset the timer. When you take the filter out there is a model # on it and you can call the manufacturer or go to local appliance store to buy a new one.

        Thank you so much for the quick response.  I have a  “To Do” list for the kitchen and I will ad this one as a DIY project.   I have a feeling me an you are going to be spending a lot of time together.  Are you married 😉 Thanks again!
