Hi! We have a 48” Ilve gas stove in route. We are doing a full kitchen remodel and looking for a vent hood insert. Recommendations on products?

We anticipate we need at least 900 csm and would like something that’s quieter. The house is built in late 1920s so we anticipate taking duct straight up & out roof (likely 20-30’ of duct work).

When do you recommend adding make up air (we haven’t looked at code requirements)?

A great hood insert is the brand Vent A Hood. they make a very quiet unit utilizing their Magic Lung system. Look at model BH246SLDSS. XO is another brand that makes an insert in varying sizes slightly noisier than the Vent a Hood, but still a quality hood. The model is XoI45KS, this will have enough power, and both models can vent straight up. Make-up air is tricky. Some town codes require it, while others do not. It is more necessary in tight kitchens and in well-insulated homes that don’t have ample air supply to “make up” the airflow being exhausted out. I have an open kitchen plan in my home and never saw the need for it. I opted for power.
