Microwave versus range hood

      My husband and I are in the process of buying a house and it currently has a glass range hood which is very dirty. My husband wants to take it out and put a microwave over the stove which would require us to get cabinetry made as there is not a lot of cabinets to begin with. The other option is to try to clean the range and let it remain. I wanted to ask which was better to clean the range or go ahead and build some cabinets to house the microwave?       So the glass hoods look great, usually when new only. They just are so hard to clean. It’s a battle you will always face. You’re probably better off getting a cabinet above and hanging a microwave above it as it will act as a hood as well and be a real space saver.
