It comes down to personal preference, electric is usually easier to clean. Now, with induction cooktops, you can get to cooking temps faster than gas. So those are excellent, but the more professional-style stoves that come in 36, 48, and 60 will almost all be gas. These are more professional-looking and offer sturdier construction for years of extended use. I favor gas, but some stoves like Fisher Paykel make a hybrid! Gas and induction on 1 unit.
