I live in an area with extremely hard water. Even if I periodically clean the diswasher with vinegar, should I expect my dishwasher to last beyond, say, 6 years?
It can, but you need to get a dishwasher with a built-in water softener. This will help out tremendously. I would run an afresh dishwasher cleaning tab as well once a month. Too much vinegar over time can break down the seals.
