      I’m wondering if my old wiring could be the reason I have had 4 refrigerators fail in the last 10 years.

      I don’t think so. You can always put a meter on the line to make sure the current is steady. Are you experiencing power surges or blackouts frequently? A power surge is a common culprit to kill a fridge, but the wiring itself is usually not. I would also put a surge protector to be safe in the outlet they do work to steady current if that is the root cause.
